The city of Bellevue will host two Martin Luther King Jr. Day events in the coming weeks.

The first event will be held from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE, in the Council Chambers. Free parking will be available at the Meydenbauer parking garage.

At the event, a panel of African-American community leaders will discuss the importance of Dr. King’s ideas as they relate to today, life on the Eastside and their thoughts on progress of equality and equity in American society.

The event is cosponsored by the King County Library System and Friends of the Bellevue Library.

The second event will include a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in accordance with a Health Fair.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, the event will be held at Crossroads Bellevue Market Stage, 15600 NE Eighth St.

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King celebration and Health Fair at Crossroads Shopping Center will offer guest speakers, community leaders, live entertainment and performances that honor Dr. King’s work. Visitors will also have the opportunity to donate blood, receive a free health screening and explore health-related community resources.

The event is cosponsored by the Alumni Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Crossroads Bellevue.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is on Monday, Jan. 15.
