Bellevue School District was awarded a grant for $855,000 to be funded over three years by King County’s Best Starts for Kids program.
With this grant, the Bellevue School District will partner with the Boys and Girls Club, Parks & Community Services, KidsQuest Children’s Museum and the YMCA of Bellevue to provide 195 students experiencing homelessness with enriching summer and year-round programming. Program offerings will include cooking, horse care, climbing, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics), animatronics and circuitry.
This grant is part of King County’s overarching strategy to support organizations that provide consistent, high-quality and culturally relevant summer and after-school programming for under served communities and geographies. Best Starts for Kids and School’s Out Washington awarded seven place-based partnership grants representing 26 organizations across King County, and 12 people of color-led organization grants, an investment totaling $8.3 million over the next three years.
