Bellevue insurance agency recognized for exceptional volunteerism

A $5,000 donation will go to a nonprofit that funds cancer research.

Bellevue-based PCRG Insurance Agency has earned a 2018 Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award in recognition of its exceptional volunteerism and commitment to making positive change happen in the local community. The award includes a $5,000 donation that will go directly to the Innovators Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives faster by funding innovative early-stage research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

“My team and I have worked with the Innovators Network for over two years, and we are incredibly thankful for being awarded the Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award so we can give back even more,” said Jessica Fukuchi, an independent agent and president of PCRG Insurance Agency. “The Innovators Network has had a significant impact on our community and these funds will help continue to make a difference.”

PCRG Insurance Agency and the Innovators Network have their story featured on the official Safeco Insurance Facebook page (Facebook.com/SafecoInsurance) with a chance to raise an additional $5,000. If the story is shared from Safeco’s social media sites at least 200 times on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn, the total donation for the nonprofit will double to $10,000.

“We are excited to share the inspiring stories of our agents with their communities through social media while raising funds for these outstanding nonprofit organizations,” said Mary Gardner, Safeco Insurance Northwest region territory manager. “Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards program helps to recognize the amazing work agents do in areas like Bellevue and motivate others to do the same.”

PCRG Insurance Agency was selected for a Make More Happen Award based on a photo and application demonstrating its commitment to the Innovators Network, which is based in Seattle and impacts cancer treatment techniques around the world.

Fukuchi has been involved with the Innovators Network since it was founded several years ago, and has served as an integral part of the organization. She has personally managed their fundraising events, served on the board and secured donations for key initiatives. Her PCRG Insurance Agency team has also shown support by attending major fundraisers and donating high-end prizes to events.

With the $10,000 from PCRG Insurance Agency, the Innovators Network is able to empower scientists and scholars to conduct meaningful research that would not otherwise receive funding. These projects have already generated medical advancements including new cancer-fighting t-cell therapy technologies which have helped save lives in Washington and abroad.

Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards focus on nonprofits in the areas of health, safety, education and civil service. Throughout 2018, Safeco will select a total of 24 independent agents for awards and donate up to $240,000 to the nonprofits they support.
