People who live, work or go to school in the South Bellevue area can pledge to drive less and earn rewards through King County Metro’s In Motion program, available now through Aug. 8.
The program has cut pollution and drive-alone trips across King County for more than 14 years. A new partnership with Hopelink will help promote the program and provide in-language support in Spanish and Chinese to support broader sign-up and participation.
The “In Motion” program will run spring and summer, and people can explore healthier travel options and earn rewards by giving their car a break and taking the bus, walking, bicycling, carpooling, and more.
Participants can pledge to drive less and get an ORCA transit card good for two weeks of unlimited travel. In support of the travel changes, participants receive a travel packet customized to their needs and qualify for one guaranteed ride home.
Participants who register and log their weekly trips will be entered in the weekly drawings for gift cards to local businesses, and a chance at two grand prize drawings.
The South Bellevue prizes include:
- South Bellevue Community Center – “High Ropes Adventure” Challenge Course for two adults + smoothie gift certificate ($125 value)
- Tickets for two to a Seattle Sounders Game + $50 Gift Certificate to Pyramid Ale House ($125 value).
This project is funded with federal grants intended to increase the use of transit, carpooling, biking and walking.
Since 2004, In Motion has reached over 25,000 people in 40 King County neighborhoods. Participants have reduced over 3.2 million miles of drive alone trips and kept almost 1,500 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere.
In Motion provides people throughout the county with tools and information on how they can explore their travel options. Many program materials, as well as many of Metro’s brochures, are translated into both Spanish and Chinese to reduce barriers to participating in the program.
To learn more and to sign up, visit In Motion’s website, or call 206-477-2005. Residents can sign up until Aug. 8, 2018 to receive a free ORCA transit card good for two weeks of unlimited rides.
