Arguably the most coveted position in all of sports is the quarterback position on the football field.
Eastside Bulldogs quarterback Kyle Tief, who finished the 2017 season as the Bulldogs starting signal caller, is pushing himself as hard as possible at spring practice sessions. The Bulldogs, who captured back-to-back Northwest Junior College Football League (NWJCFL) titles in 2015 and 2016, fell back to the middle of the pack last fall finishing with an overall record of 5-4. The 21-year-old Highline High School alumnus wants to lead the Bulldogs back to a championship in 2018.
“We are trying to go undefeated,” Tief said.
Tief was thrilled toward the end of last year when he was inserted into the starting lineup.
“In all honesty, I was like. ‘Shoot, I finally get to play.’ I went out there and just had as much fun as I possibly could,” Tief said. “I love to throw it (football). Even if I’m pressured I will look for a pass before I run. I wouldn’t say I’m the strongest armed quarterback but I definitely know how to play the game with my head. That is my strength.”
Tief said he’s always been a lead-by -example type of player but plans to be more vocal on the field this season.
“In the past I have sat back but this year I’m trying to step out of my comfort zone and be a talking on the field leader. I also went to make sure we get the guys together (off field gatherings) type of a thing going,” Tief said.
Recently the Bellevue Reporter had an opportunity to ask Tief a few questions about his life away from the football field.
