Bellevue Police have arrested one suspect, after they — and a group of men — allegedly attacked a Bellevue resident. Officers are still on the search for another suspect.

At 5:50 p.m. on April 20 in the 15800 block of Northeast 15th Street, a 28-year-old male was driving into an apartment complex to pick up his friend, Bellevue Police said. That’s when someone hit the back of the man’s vehicle with their hands.

The driver, who did not know the subject, got out and confronted the suspect — and the suspect then instigated a physical fight. That’s when about 15 other males joined in and assaulted the victim by kicking and striking him. The victim ran into the middle of 15th street, away from the suspects, and called 911 to report the incident.

At a community meeting on April 10, Bellevue Police Department Chief Steve Mylett told attendees that the uptick in violent acts occuring in the Crossroads neighborhood were likley due to gang activity. Seth Tyler, spokesman for the Bellevue Police, said it’s too early to say if this incident is gang related.

The victim, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, later identified the 18-year-old suspect as one of his assaulters. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
