The 30Bellevue housing development has won a 2019 VISION 2040 Award from the Puget Sound Regional Council.

The awards recognize innovative projects and programs that help ensure a sustainable future as the region grows.

“30Bellevue provides 63 green and affordable apartment homes ranging from studio to three-bedrooms, more than half of which will directly serve formerly homeless households,” said Josh Brown, executive director of PSRC. “This helps meet a critical need on the Eastside and is an excellent example of what we can accomplish when we work in partnership.”

The award was expected to be presented at the Bellevue City Council meeting on Sept. 16.

Imagine Housing led the partnership to develop 30Bellevue, working closely with St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Walsh Construction, SMR Architects and others. The property was designed to support families with amenities like open space, community rooms and access to transportation. Community members donated furniture, school supplies and other basics to help new residents.

VISION 2040 is the region’s growth management, economic and transportation strategy, designed to meet the needs of the 5 million people expected to be living in the region in 2040. It is an integrated, long-range vision for the future that lays out a strategy for maintaining a healthy region — promoting the well-being of people and communities, economic vitality and a healthy environment.

PSRC develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth, transportation and economic development planning within King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The council is composed of more than 80 entities, including all four counties, cities and towns, ports, state and local transportation agencies and tribal governments within the region.
