The Knights have picked up where they left off after winning the state championship last year.

The battle of defending state champions went to the Knights, as coach Eric Bartleson’s squad picked up the win in the dual meet over the defending 3A state champions from Mercer Island.

Newport was led by a pair of wins from Jenny Huo, who picked up victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 meter breast stroke.

The Knights, which won a dual meet over the Islanders for the first time since 2000, got state qualifying times from Lorea Gwo in the 50 and 100 fly, Maggie Pana in the 200 and 500 free, Elisa Fang in the 100 free and 100 back and also from the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay teams.

The Saints stayed perfect on the year with another sweep, this time 7-0 over Mount Si, as Matthew Hur, Josh Higa, Dylan Milligan and Michael Wang each won singles matches in straight sets.

Girls soccer

Bellevue Christian 8 Chimacum 0

Alli Vitalone scored three goals and the Bulldogs got two each from Caryn Ausenhus and Maddie Gonzalez in the win. Bella Boscolo also chipped in with a goal and Erin Smith picked up the shutout in goal for BCS.

Bellevue 5 Sammamish 0

Isabelle Butterfield and Sabrina Mohazzabfar each netted a pair of goals and Corinne Foster scored another as Bellevue rolled to the win.

Sam Freeman and Brittley Gaan combined on the shutout in goal for the Wolverines.
