Sen. Rodney Tom, D-Medina, has been honored for bettering the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Tom, and five other legislators, were honored for helping pass Senate Bill 6387, which added 5,000 individuals with developmental disabilities to services, as well as put in place a policy to make it easier for families to receive respite care. Tom also was honored for his responsiveness over his 12-year legislative career to champion issues for those with developmental disabilities.

“Over the span of his almost 12 years, including the last two years as Majority Leader of the Senate Majority Caucus, we’ve been able to count on him time-after-time at critical moments, and, once again, last session,” said Joe Cunningham, coordinator of the King County Family Coalition.
