To mitigate hunger amid the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the Food Lifeline nonprofit is bringing emergency food boxes to Bellevue College and other Seattle-area locations this week.
“Food Lifeline encourages everyone to take home this nutritious food,” nonprofit representatives said on the organization’s website. “We are all struggling during this crisis, and no one should hesitate to accept this help.”
Each box comes with between 22 and 25 pounds of items like bread, non-meat proteins, canned meats and canned fruits and vegetables, according to the Food Lifeline website. Boxes also contain a few produce items.
Food Lifeline is offering drive-up no-touch (and walk-up) distribution. While the nonprofit is asking for zip codes to keep track of its efforts, the distribution is confidential. No paperwork or qualifications are needed to receive a box.
Food Lifeline will be at Bellevue College (main entrance off 148th Street) Friday, May 22, from 2-5 p.m. It will also be bringing boxes to Northgate Mall (Nordstrom Rack parking lot, May 19 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and North Bend Outlets (May 21, 11 a.m.-3 p.m).
Food Lifeline will also be giving out boxes at its Seattle location (815 South 96th Street) on May 20 (2-5 p.m.) and May 22 (2-5 p.m.)
