John Carlson misses the moral of his own column (Bellevue Reporter 8/19/09). The woman with government sponsored health care (Medicare) had a successful outcome, while the woman at the mercy of the insurance companies was financially ruined. Many in her situation die.

The myth that reform will limit mom’s medical care is just another Republican talking point. John’s Singapore option is fine for many of us and can be part of the solution, but doesn’t begin to address the health care crisis.
