Two young Eastside musicians received a Jamie Moyer bobblehead and a standing ovation from the several hundred guests who attended the 73rd annual First Citizens civic banquet at the Sheraton Seattle recently.

Alexander Lu, 11, and Nathan Lee, 9, were honored for their efforts in the “Ten Grands Young Artist” competition.

Lu, a fifth grader at Bellevue Children’s Academy, won the grand prize in the competition in 2010. Lee, a third grader at Samantha Smith Elementary in Sammamish, is the 2011 grand prize winner. The talented youngsters performed during the reception at the event honoring the Moyers.

Also in honor of their performances, an anonymous donation was made to The Snowman Foundation, which presents annual “Ten Grands” concerts in Seattle and Portland as fundraisers to supports its mission to give the gift of music to children.

Former Seattle Mariner Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen, co-founded The Moyer Foundation. In just 10 years, their charitable organization has raised in excess of $20 million to help support more than 225 different programs that provide encouragement, comfort and support to children who are enduring physical, emotional or financial distress.
