Candidate filing begins Monday

Candidates can begin filing for office Monday for elected positions throughout King County.

Candidate filing opens Monday for more than 300 offices, and hundreds of candidates are expected to file for office with King County Elections.

People can file beginning at 8:30 a.m. for in-person filing and at 9 a.m. for online filing. Filing week ends Friday, June 10, at 4:30 p.m. (online filing closes at 4 p.m.).

During filing week, candidates may file 24 hours a day online, in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the King County Elections office, or by mail. All applications must be received by King County Election officials by 4:30 p.m. on Friday. An updated list of filings will be posted on the Elections website at noon and 6 p.m. each day until closing.

A lot drawing, which randomly assigns the order that candidates will appear on the primary ballot, will be conducted on Friday after filing has closed. The lot drawing order will be posted on the website on Friday, June 10.

A complete list of offices subject to election, along with additional information on candidate filing and a manual for candidates, is available on the Elections website, www.kingcounty.gov/elections.
