BPD takes down Eastside car theft suspect in Lake City

A Bellevue Police investigation into a high-profile Eastside car thief led its special enforcement and SWAT teams to Seattle's Lake City neighborhood last Friday, where 20-year-old Brian Beasley was arrested and two stolen vehicles were recovered.

A Bellevue Police investigation into a high-profile Eastside car thief led its special enforcement and SWAT teams to Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood last Friday, where 20-year-old Brian Beasley was arrested and two stolen vehicles were recovered.

The Bellevue Police Special Enforcement Team identified Beasley as a suspect in a rash of vehicle thefts on the Eastside and began surveilling him, eventually catching him driving around in a stolen vehicle, according to a BPD news release. Detectives tracked Beasley to his Lake City home and attempted to arrest him when he left his residence last Friday, but the Seattle man fled on foot, the release states. A Kirkland K-9 unit was brought in and located Beasley hiding in a nearby yard.

A Honda Odyssey reported stolen from the Enatai neighborhood of Bellevue the day before was recovered near Beasley’s residence, along with a Honda Ridgeline reported stolen out of Kirkland. Police report a search of Beasley’s residence led to the arrest of one adult with a state Department of Corrections escape warrant, the recovery of an Apple Macbook and seizure of enough heroin to lead police to believe illegal sales were involved.

Beasley was booked into the King County Jail on two counts of vehicle theft.
