The two third-place finishers from their respective divisions will meet for the second time this season with a district playoff spot in the line at Pop Keeney in the 4A KingCo crossover round.
Newport dominated the matchup between the two in the third week of the season, winning a 40-9 contest.
The Falcons come in with two losses in their past three games, including a 35-0 setback at the hands of division champion Bothell last week.
Newport dominated its regular season finale with Garfield 42-6.
Bellevue (8-0, 6-0) VS. Mercer Island (4-3, 4-2), 7 p.m. Friday
Bellevue, which has already locked up a spot in the 3A district playoffs and another 3A KingCo title, closes the regular season against Mercer Island looking for a state record 49th consecutive win.
The Islanders, which need a win to make the district playoffs, have lost their last two, including a 45-7 defeat to Mount Si last week, after beginning conference play with four straight wins.
The Wolverines, meanwhile, have done nothing but continue to exert dominance over the rest of the league throughout the year. Even with their starters resting during the second half (or earlier) in games, Bellevue held its conference opponents to less than 10 points per game while averaging better than 40 itself.
Coach Butch Goncharoff’s six-time defending 3A state champs will begin the quest for number seven Saturday, Nov. 9 at home against the fourth place finisher from 3A Wesco.
Sammamish (1-7, 1-5) VS. Lake Washington (3-5, 2-4), 7 p.m. Friday
Coming off their first conference win since 2011, Sammamish enters the game looking to make the postseason for the first time in more than a decade against the only other 2A school in the conference.
Last week’s 21-7 win over Crossroads Cup rival Interlake not only gave Sammamish its first KingCo victory since a 48-42 win over the Kangs two seasons ago, but kept alive the playoff hopes of a team that began the season with seven straight lopsided defeats.
A win over Lake Washington this week would pull them even in the standings and give coach Brian Tucci’s Totems the tiebreaker with the head-to-head win, sending them to the 2A district playoffs to face Sedro-Wooley.
Sammamish has not made a trip to the postseason in football since its 3A state title game run in 1999.
Interlake (0-8, 0-6) @ Juanita (5-3, 3-3), 7 p.m. Friday
Interlake takes its final crack at getting a KingCo win in 2013, facing a Juanita squad that also needs a victory to keep its postseason hopes alive.
The Saints were dropped by Interlake for the first time since 2006 last week, while the Rebels enter the game off two straight wins. Interlake will face Metro foe Ingraham to close the season the following week.
