City to coach nonprofits on community-based media

The City of Bellevue will host a panel discussion on June 9 for nonprofit agencies focusing on how to understand and work with emerging community-focused media.

The City of Bellevue will host a panel discussion on June 9 for nonprofit agencies focusing on how to understand and work with emerging community-focused media.

 

Entitled “How to Work with the News Media to Generate Publicity,” the event takes place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the North Bellevue Community Center, 4063 148th Ave. NE. It’s free, but reservations are required.

 

This program is tailored for nonprofits, agencies, community organizations and small businesses, and anyone else who wants to understand this new form of media. The program will provide information on how to work with interactive media sources to increase an organization’s visibility, publicize events and reach target audiences.

 

Topics covered will include how to write an effective press release, how to submit content, elements of a good news story and how to be a community journalist.

Panelists will include: Travis Mayfield, executive producer, Fisher Interactive Network; KOMO Communities,  Venice Buhain, editor of Bellevue Patch,  a representative from 425 Magazine,  and Joe Kennedy, publisher, Bellevue Business Journal,  Event moderator will be Maya, radio host at WARM 106.9 FM.
