Eastside FC squad to defend national title

The Eastside FC girls 98 Red squad, which captured a national youth soccer championship last year, will have a chance to defend their title in Germantown, Md. in July after its performance at a Las Vegas soccer showcase.

The team, coached by Tom Bialek, includes several players from Bellevue including: Maud van der Kooi, Ellie Bryant, Katie Foster, Catie Buck, Sophie Butterfield and Jojo Harber.

Nahir Baxi scored the only goal of the game on a penalty kick in the second half, as Skyline picked up the win over Newport.

Bethke player of the week

US Lacrosse Washington named Bellevue senior Hank Bethke one of its players of the week, after the Ohio State commit scored four goals and added two assists in a win over Bainbridge.

Girls water polo

Bellevue 6 Inglemoor 2

Julia Mao scored three goals to lead Bellevue to the 6-2 win over Inglemoor.

Nina Stash, Maggie Ugelstad and Morgan Baker also found the net, and senior Sierra Anderson has 16 saves in goals for Bellevue in the win.
