The City of Newcastle is one of only five cities in the state of Washington to make the list of top 100 Best Small Towns in the nation. Newcastle is ranked 17 in a new list compiled by CNN and Money Magazine.
The list is based on great schools, affordable homes, job opportunities, and low crime rate. CNN and Money Magazine singled out Newcastle for its convenient location near Microsoft and Boeing, as well as the landmark Golf Club at Newcastle.
“We’re fortunate to live in a vibrant community that puts residents in the middle of all the action,” said Newcastle Mayor Ben Varon. “Newcastle residents take great pride in our parks, schools, and local businesses. The future looks even brighter with some exciting projects coming to our city.”
Newcastle has just completed a major expansion of Coal Creek Parkway, and a new YMCA opens its doors in the city this fall. Future projects in Newcastle include a new Transit Center and a downtown library.
Other state cities on the list are Mukilteo (10th), Sammamish (12th), Richland (51st) and Silverdale (96th).
