Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Run/Walk event back for third year

The Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club’s third annual 5K Run/Walk will be back in action April 26, but this time on a new route.

The event, designed to promote healthy children and families here and around the world, will start and end at the Crossroads Community Park.

Proceeds from this event will provide funds for local programs including Kindering Center; scholarships; feeding the hungry; literacy projects; and support for homeless families.

A recent University of Washington study shows that nearly 25 percent of teenagers are overweight or obese and 58 percent of adults weigh too much. The study cites lack of exercise as a key factor.

The BBRC walk/run event is an effort to combat child obesity and raise awareness of healthy lifestyle choices for children” said Jenny Andrews, president of the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club.

Interested parties who want to sponsor or contribute to the 5K Run/Walk should contact the club’s web site: www.BBRC.net.

The Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club (BBRC) was chartered in 1985 and its membership is dedicated to “service above self” and participating in Rotary International’s mission to promote understanding, goodwill, and world peace.
