Bellevue-based City University expands to China, Philippines, Thailand

City University of Seattle has expanded its international presence in Asia with the recent signing of seven articulation agreements with partner institutions in China, the Philippines and Thailand. CityU, based in Bellevue, became one of the first American universities to offer a program in China in 1996 when it launched its MBA program in Beijing.

“The U.S. remains the top choice destination for higher education in the world. The demand in China for higher education opportunities abroad continues to be on the rise,” comments Dr. Fernando Leon Garcia, Chancellor of the International Division, at CityU. “CityU’s strategic location in the greater Seattle area makes it especially attractive for students from China, the Philippines and Thailand,” Garcia added. “The CityU global network provides an opportunity for students from other countries to not only to come to the U.S. but also to spend part of their studies in eight other countries.”

CityU’s MBA program was offered in conjunction with the Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) and the Canadian Institute for Business and Technology (CIBT), after it received official approval from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Ministry of Education.

Building upon its program offerings in China, CityU recently signed articulation agreements with the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering (ZUAE), Guangdong University of Business Studies (GUBS), and Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZPT). Through the agreements, CityU gives Chinese students the opportunity to transfer to CityU in Bellevue to complete their undergraduate and/or pursue graduate studies.

Students from China are able to take classes in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Leadership, and Bachelor of Science in Information Security programs at CityU’s site in Bellevue.

In the Philippines, CityU in conjunction with the One Nation Entrepreneur School, Inc. (The One School) is offering students the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Management or a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at CityU in Bellevue or online. In Thailand, CityU is working with the Bangkok School of Management (BSM) to provide students from BSM with the opportunity to transfer to and complete a Bachelor of Arts in Management at CityU’s site in Bellevue or online.
