Time for ethnic-minority mayor

Why has Bellevue not yet had an ethnic-minority mayor? It now is a multi-cultural and international city with 40 percent of its population an ethnic-minority and one-third foreign-born.

 

Why has Bellevue not yet had an ethnic-minority mayor? It now is a multi-cultural and international city with 40 percent of its population an ethnic-minority and one-third foreign-born.

It has an Asian American on the council for more than 18 years and has had plenty of opportunities for its Council members to choose to make this happen.

We should be proud and happy to reflect our diversity and show the rest of the country and the world that we value our multiculturalism and diversity just like San Francisco and other world-class cities. It’s time to have a mayor who truly represents our community and population.
