Why wait to implement health care package?

If the Senate’s gazillion-page health care “reform” package will do so much good, why wait four years to start much of it? While it may take that long to hire enough bureaucrats to understand and implement it and print enough money to pay off everybody, it’s pretty clear the real reason is that the perpetrators don’t want us to know what hit us until after a couple more elections.

There was a time when I was an optimist and might have thought we could throw out the current Congress in the next election along with this bill and elect members who actually represent the people – rather than special interests – and work towards real health care reform. Watching so many Americans just stand by as this disaster unfolds before our eyes has pretty much wiped out any optimism I might have had.

Now I feel like a first-century AD citizen of Pompeii, whose “leaders” are all in Rome hiring people to sink a mine shaft in the top of Vesuvius to look for gold.
