The Bellevue High football team is in talks to finalize games against more out-of-state opponents following last months announcement of a 2009 game in Katy, Texas, according to Wolverines athletic director Brian Hercules.
Bellevue is in discussions to play a game in 2010 against Hoover High School of Hoover, Ala., in the 2010 Bellevue CBA Football Classic. The date of the football classic will be determined after Bellevue and Hoover both finalize their respective league schedules.
MTV fans will remember Hoover High School as the school featured in the network’s popular show “Two-a-Days”, a documentary/reality show showcasing the school’s popular and successful football team and the fervor that surrounds football in the south.
Hoover had a brilliant run under head coach Rush Propst from 1999-2007, with five state titles and two runner-up finishes.
Bellevue is also in talks to play Union High School of Oklahoma in the 2011 CBA Football Classic.
The plans come off the heels of Bellevue’s agreement to play against Katy High School of Katy, Texas this fall. The Wolverines will also play Grant High School of Sacramento, Calif., in the 2009 CBA Football Classic, formerly known as the Best of the West Football Classic, on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Seattle Memorial Stadium.
The game was renamed in honor of former Bellevue athlete Chase Barron Anderson, who was killed last spring skateboarding at the University of Washington, where he was a freshman.
Bellevue is 4-0 overall against out-of-state competition, which its biggest win coming against Concord De La Salle of Calif. That win stopped the De La Salle’s record 151-game win streak
