Another Issaquah-Newport softball match-up, another Issaquah win by the slimmest of margins.
For the third time this season, Issaquah squeezed past the Knights, this time winning 1-0 in the KingCo 3A Championship game. The Eagles (18-0) won thanks to an RBI single by Kylei Rosselot in the first inning that held up through the remainder of the game.
Stacey Hagenson took the tough-luck loss for the Knights (14-7), while Mikenzie Voves took the win for Issaquah, striking out seven and allowing only two hits.
Issaquah is 3-0 against Newport this season, although the Eagles have only scored five runs in those victories.
Both teams advance to the Sea-King District Tournament that takes place this week.
The Knights advanced to the championship game with a 5-3 win over Skyline on May 8.
The Spartans led that game 3-2 before Natsumi Ueda hit what would be a game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Hagenson picked up the win for the Knights.
