In honor of Black History Month, a special exhibit of works by some of the most prominent African-American artists from the past 40 years will open Feb. 6 in the college’s Gallery Space. “Color(ing) Within the Lines: Graphic Works by African American Artists” will include art by Kara Walker, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Lorna Simpson and many others.
The works are owned by collector and philanthropist Jordan Schnitzer, who will speak in Carlson Theater at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 6. The exhibit, which is sponsored by BC’s Office of Multicultural Services and the Office of Equity and Pluralism, runs through April 12.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gallery Space is located on the second floor of the D Building in Room 271, at the southwest end of the main campus, 3000 Landerholm Circle SE.
