Kirkland artist Kris Lynch is known for her innovative and whimsical burnt-wood creations. She will showcase her newest collection of hand-tooled works at Pogacha restaurant in Issaquah, 120 N.W. Gilman Blvd., from Oct. 3 – Nov. 14. On Nov. 14 the show will move to Pogacha of Bellevue, 119 106th Ave. N.E., where it will run until Dec. 19.

The artist crafts her original woodworks by etching hand-drawn designs with a hot iron and painting detailed layers of multi-hued colors. Pogacha will feature a collection of “turntable” style trivets. Themes include travel-inspired scenes, culinary favorites, sea and wild life.

“My works are inspired by pivotal moments in my life such as beach-combing on Captiva Island in Florida, summers spent in the Rocky Mountains, colorful crowned cranes at the Cougar Mountain Zoo, or visits with friends over a bottle of wine,” said Lynch. “The most important thing to me is that the colors harmonize and are fresh. The colors have to speak to me.”

The new collection, “Burnt Impressions,” features pieces that are intended as interior design focal points. The collection includes kitchen-oriented, high-quality turntables as centerpieces or wall décor.

“I finish each piece with a thick top coat so that it can be cleaned easily. These works of art are meant to be functional,” Lynch said.

Lynch studied art and interior design at Miami University in Ohio, earning a degree in health and fitness, a lifelong passion. She has honed her creative skills at the Kirkland Arts Center. The majority of her work is privately commissioned for clients throughout the country.
