Bellevue School Superintendent Amalia Cudeiro has initiated a nine-month strategic planning process that will help shape the district’s work over the next five years.

The strategic plan will guide the work of more than 2,000 school district employees and many community partners dedicated to achieving academic excellence and equity for all children, Cudeiro said. “The plan will be a roadmap for our staff and community and will be driven by a strong passion for all children to succeed,” she said.

The strategic plan is a district, staff and community-based effort to develop a set of guiding principles and strategies to direct the district’s short and long-term plans to improve students’ success. Updated and prioritized initiatives, performance targets and strategies will all be a part of the plan to achieve identified goals. The plan will be based on information from surveys, focus groups and community forums as well as recommendations from a broad-based strategic plan advisory committee.

That committee will be formed to make recommendations and to advise the district on the guiding principles, priorities, goals, initiatives, and strategies. It will be comprised of parents, teachers, district staff, business, civic groups, municipal leaders and others and will provide high-level direction to the district.

Community input and participation is also a critical part of the process. Surveys, focus groups and a series of community forums will allow the District to seek input and feedback from the Bellevue community. The information obtained from the community will assist in the development of the five-year plan.

“Bellevue is a caring, involved and committed community, and this is reflected in the quality of our schools. Participation in this process is an exciting way to contribute to quality education and help shape a solid direction for our schools,” Cudeiro said.

Information and links to the application for a role on the committee is located on the District web site front page at www.bsd405.org. Applications are due by Dec. 3 and committee selection is expected to be announced in early December. Regular updates to the Strategic Planning process will also be posted on the district’s website: www.bsd405.org.
