Bellevue Community College’s Center for Career Connections is offering six free, public workshops this spring on career planning and job-hunting:
— Are you LinkedIn? More than 10 million people are using online networking sites, such as LinkedIn, for career management, job search and recruitment. This workshop covers what recruiters say about LinkedIn and how job-seekers can improve their profiles to generate more interest.
The workshop will be from 1:30-2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15.
— Networking & the Hidden Job Market: Tapping Into Unadvertised Jobs. More than 60 percent of all job openings are not advertised. This workshop teaches how networking strategies can help you find them.
The workshop will be from 10:30-11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22.
— Cover Letter Review. The workshop will explain cover letters, letters of inquiry and marketing letters, and how to use them to be more competitive in the job market.
It will be offered 10:30-11:20 a.m. on Thursday, April 24.
— Do More Than Survive, Make a Difference through Your Work. The workshop will explore ways a person can make a difference in their current or future life and work, including sustainable careers.
It will be offered from 10:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 15.
— Careers with a Future. The workshop will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 22.
— Salary Negotiation. Participants will learn non-confrontational strategies that can add significant money to their lifetime career earnings.
It will be offered from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28.
