I’m probably one of those haughty Bellevue cyclists Harvey Gillis wrote about (Bicyclists need to pay registration fee). I’m also a haughty Bellevue homeowner, a haughty Bellevue consumer and a haughty Bellevue driver.
Tax is collected from all kinds of sources and is distributed to provide resources that serve all residents. If a disproportionate amount of that money had been spent on bike infrastructure, then there may be a case for sourcing extra money from cyclists. But the fact that there have been no significant improvements in the six years that I’ve lived in Bellevue suggests otherwise.
Don’t believe anything written in a recent Seattle Times article. It’s Stalinist claptrap. It was written to fool folk into thinking that City Hall has an intention and an ability to provide biking improvements to this city that so far, they have been clearly incapable of.
