Top chef to open two restaurants at The Bravern

Terrance Brennan, chef-proprietor of Picholine, a two-Michelin star restaurant, and Artisanal Fromagerie, Bistro, and Wine Bar, both in New York City, will open two new Artisanal restaurants – Artisanal Brasserie & Wine Bar and The Artisanal Table Pizzeria Tapas Wine Bar – in The Shops at The Bravern this September.

The Bravern project marks the first national expansion of Brennan’s highly acclaimed Artisanal brand.

“We are thrilled that a tremendous talent like Terrance Brennan decided to locate his first restaurants outside of New York at The Bravern,” said Tom Woodworth, senior investment director for Schnitzer West, developer of the 1.6 million square foot project. “Brennan’s reputation and culinary achievements are recognized by gourmets worldwide.”

Named a Best New Chef by Food & Wine magazine in 1995, Brennan is a five-time nominee for Best Chef: New York by the James Beard Foundation.

Long regarded as one of New York’s best restaurants, Picholine earned two stars from the prestigious Michelin Guide; four stars from New York magazine and Crain’s New York Business; and three from the New York Times. In 2007, Picholine received a James Beard Foundation nomination for the country’s Outstanding Restaurant. Artisanal, named “one of the best bistros in New York” by Gourmet magazine is consistently one of the highest rated French bistros in the Zagat Survey.

The Bellevue brasserie will feature a first-of-its-kind Wine & Cheese Bar that Chef Brennan calls his “Bar du Fromage” that will feature specialties like homemade mozzarella and be staffed by a professional fromager who will offer expert and innovative pairings of cheese and wine.

The Artisanal Table — an upscale pizzeria, tapas and wine bar – is a new concept that Brennan created for guests who desire high-quality cuisine in a comfortable and relaxed environment.

A stone hearth will turn out sumptuous artisanal flatbread pizzas and house specialties like Daube of Beef Short Ribs. The menu will also feature tapas like Grilled Porcini with Parsley and Olive Oil, Razor Clams a la Plancha and Smoked Duck Ham with Fig Mousse.

“The natural bounty of organic and sustainable food products and internationally recognized wineries and beers from The Pacific Northwest give us an enormous opportunity to create flavorful and creative dishes,” said Brennan.

In addition to an extensive wine bar with multiple tasting options that will include wines by the glass, wine flights and food and wine pairings, The Artisanal Table will feature a selection of microbrews with an offering of 12 beers on tap and 12 hand-crafted bottled beers, including an Artisanal brand beer.

The brasserie and pizzeria will be located next to each other on Level 1 at the corner of 112th Avenue Northeast and Northeast Eighth Street.

The Bravern is scheduled for completion in September.
