Newport Heights Elementary school’s annual PTA-sponsored Festival of Cultures is coming Thursday, Nov. 19.

The event, from 6:30-8:30 in the school gyn, is designed to celebrate ethnic diversity. Families are encouraged to create tri-fold board visual displays including information about national holidays, celebrations, music, food, school, places to visit, sports and. the evening often includes food samples to try and some community members come dressed in traditional clothing.

There will be an international parade of costumes for those who dress up before the entertainment begins around 7:30. The event will include Korean musicians, a coconut breaking demonstration from a parent, as well as Spanish and Chinese dancers.

Lenny Luzzi, husband of Bellevue Reporter columnist own Patty Luzzi, will serenade the audience with his Italian accordion playing.
