Postal service need public’s help

I would like to let the people of Bellevue know that the employees don't like the crisis we face and don't want to see service cut any further.

It’s been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Bellevue for the last 30 years. I would like to let the people of Bellevue know that the employees don’t like the crisis we face and don’t want to see service cut any further.

We don’t want you to have to wait longer in line to purchase or mail things; we don’t want our quality of service to drop either as is being considered.

We need your help in convincing Congress to repeal punitive legislation that is the current reason for our financial situation. No other business or government agency has to prepay their future retiree health care to the tune of $5.5 billion a year. This requirement forces us to prefund 75 years in a 10-year window.

We’ve lost money ever since it was imposed in 2006. Take that away and we’d have a surplus and wouldn’t be forced to slash service via closing post offices, laying off and basically ruining a service that many citizens use and rely on.
