A new idea for light-rail

Here is an idea for a light-rail route for downtown Bellevue that may be cheaper than B7, revised B7, B2M or any other route described in the press. Have the transit line connect to the BSNF rail corridor just north of I-90. Follow the corridor north towards Northeast Eighth Street, crossing I-405 where the previous bridge crossed it.

Where Northeast Sixth Street would cross the BSNF corridor, create a rail spur headed west. The rail spur would be elevated over 112th Avenue Northeast and go into a tunnel underneath the Bellevue Transit Center. It could continue underneath Northeast Sixth Street to 106th Avenue Northeast. It would have two tracks.

A better route would be a Bellevue loop from the Bellevue Transit Center to Northeast 10th Street to 100th Avenue Northeast to Northeast Second Street and back to the Transit Center. Some of the tracks would be underground and some would be elevated.

This light-rail route would likely be cheaper than the other routes, better handle the commuters and the Bellevue Square shoppers and not block traffic.
