Imbibers in Bellevue are now able to keep their parties going without leaving the comfort of their homes.
Drizly, a national alcohol delivery service based out of Boston, is expanding beyond its previous borders in Seattle, where it has operated successfully for a year. The company is expanding its delivery area by 70 percent, reaching roughly 350,000 new customers.
Among these new areas are Bellevue, Clyde Hill, Medina and West Bellevue. Mercer Island is also included in the new radius.
Drizly was founded in 2013 by two friends at Boston College, Nick Rellas and Justin Robinson. The company delivers beer, wine, spirits and mixers within local liquor laws and partnering with local liquor companies.
Calvin Iverson, spokesman for the company, said the Bellevue expansion was one the company had been looking toward since day one of operating in Washington.
“The expansion to Bellevue and surrounding areas is especially great because of all of the businesses based in the area,” he said. “Drizly offers companies the ultimate convenience and online ordering capability for their next company happy hour or event.”
Drizly has had success in the Seattle area delivering local beers, including Fremont Brewing, Elysian Brewing, Deschutes Brewing and Redhook Brewing beers.
The company operates in Boston, Austin, Baltimore, Boulder, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., among other locations.
