Bellevue’s Trilogy International loses five in Haiti

Bellevue-based Trilogy International Partners reports that five members of its Haitian wireless company, Voila, during the devastating earthquake that struck that country Jan. 12.

Voila is the largest U.S. company in Haiti, and employes around 575 workers.

Trilogy says all five of its buildings in Port-au-Prince remained intact during the quakes, and some employees returned to work by Jan. 13.

The company also reports that nearly 90 percent of its cell sites are operational, while those that are not are being replaced with mobile cell towers.

Trilogy has set up a non-profit called Voila Foundation (visit http://www.trilogy-international.com for details) to direct donations for relief efforts.

The company has pledged $3 million, while company chairman John Stanton and his wife, Theresa Gillespie, have pledged $1 million.
