It may not be the answer to global warming, but a demonstration August 3 at the Golf Club at Newcastle put people in a happy mood. The event was titled “Saving the World One Solar-Powered Margarita at a Time!”
Sparling’s solar-powered blender made its 2nd annual appearance at the Washington State Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Summer Social & Golf Tournament on Sparling-sponsored China Creek Hole #3.
Sparling’s Kristy Alley, Leah Curulla and Sandy Chapin served margaritas to over 140 thirsty golfers blended by the solar-powered blender featured last year in an online blog.
Sparling is the largest specialty electrical engineering and technology consulting firm in the United States providing services in electrical, technology, audiovisual, acoustics and lighting design.
Michael Newbury, Principal, and Ian Cotton, Project Designer (inventor of the solar-powered blender) were on hand to answer questions about the solar-powered technology and explain this year’s solar-powered enhancements — water misting capabilities to cool down overheated patrons and music to golf by.
The event is one of the largest in NAIOP’s program year. NAIOP is also the organizer of the annual Community Enhancement project in which over 300+ workers from several area companies work on a worthy project in a single day. This year’s project in September is Ryther Child Center in Seattle, a 10-acre out-patient and residential facility for children and families who suffer from physical and sexual abuse, mental illness and chemical addiction.
