Motricity files for IPO

The Bellevue-based mobile software firm Motricity has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell up to $250 million in stock an initial public offering.

The company generated over $100 million in revenue in 2008 and $117 million in 2009 by September of that year. However, the firm says it is not profitable.

Motricity, founded in 2001, is backed by over $400 million in venture capital. The company moved from North Carolina to Bellevue in 2008.
