A total of 850 workers in Bellevue could be out of job by the end of June as Verizon will close its Bellevue call center.
Verizon also will close call centers in other parts of the country, affecting 3,175 employees nationally. The company is consolidating its call centers throughout the country.
Affected employees will be offered relocation assistance if they move to another Verizon call center. Those who don’t or don’t find employment locally will be offered a severance package.
The employees will all be offered the option to relocate or seek other positions locally. Verizon will provide employees $10,000 each in relocation assistance if they move to one of the company’s 28 call centers nationally.
Verizon’s regional headquarters also is in Bellevue. It is not affected by the call center closings. The Bellevue call center is located in two buildings at 15900 SE Eastgate Way.
