The recent little noted federal requirement those treated for mental disorders receive the same degree of care as those with physical problems has some significant implications. It seems there is a fine line between justifying treating someone for schizophrenia and treating someone with an addiction to alcohol and drugs. Doing the latter will surely result in huge expenditures attempting to rehabilitate larger numbers of addicts with very limited results.
