Bellevue City Council should listen to citizens’ concerns | Letter

City Hall was recently filled with citizens from Bellevue, Newport and Redmond sharing their thoughts about the proposed PSE Eastside Energy project that will run high voltage energy lines through several cities.

Many wore orange t-shirts in support of CENSE, a nonprofit that has hired their own independent group to do the same testing as PSE to determine future energy need.

Only their test included some energy resources that PSE did not, which led to different results basically, there is not the need PSE projected.

Everyone in the room spoke in opposition to the PSE project for many reasons: neighborhood safety, an incomplete report, property devaluation, Bellevue’s park and wildlife destruction and health dangers.

Some speakers reported facts and others had strong emotional concerns. The evening was quite intense. It was interesting that no one from PSE spoke. The council members were also not present. I guess they do not need to be at such a hearing. Let’s hope they watch with seriousness the video tape of their citizens’ concerns.
