It was an honor to nominate Dr. Don Davidson to the position of mayor of the city of Bellevue, and Councilmember Conrad Lee to the position of deputy mayor.
Dr. Davidson’s 22 years of experience on the council and depth of knowledge on the budget will serve the city well. Dr. Davidson understands the importance of preserving the character and quality of Bellevue’s neighborhoods, protecting our businesses to enable them to preserve and create jobs, and protecting and improving our road network to relieve traffic congestion.
This understanding is vital as we continue to work with Sound Transit to find a light rail solution that works well for both Bellevue and the region. Dr. Davidson has a long history of leadership in the protection of our environment, particularly in advocating for improvements to the region’s water quality and salmon habitat. He also understands the importance of protecting property owners’ ability to use and enjoy their property. This knowledge will be invaluable as we look to move Bellevue to a new era of effective environmentalism.
Councilmember Lee brings a wealth of knowledge in the area economic development. His work with the Small Business Administration, Bellevue’s Economic Development Department, the Puget Sound Regional Council Economic Development Board and the Trade Development Alliance bring the experience necessary to improve Bellevue’s role as a catalyst for job creation in our region.
Councilmember Lee is also a central figure in Bellevue’s Asian community – a community that makes up nearly a quarter of Bellevue’s population. As a native of China and a proud American, Lee has the unique ability to create bonds between the various cultures in our community, and this ability is essential as Bellevue’s population becomes increasingly diverse.
