I am a father of two children at Somerset and Tyee schools who will be impacted by the math textbook chosen in Bellevue.

The Discovery Math Program is an ineffective method to teach math. I’m not sure of any advantage of the Discovering Math program to me and my children who are the customers of the Bellevue school system.

As an engineer I use math in my job daily and am considered a resource in statistics, Weibull Analysis, confidence intervals, test plan sample sizes, etc; and yet I have struggled to help my children when they have been taught using the discovery style math program.

I urge the school district to choose the Holt Math program.
