I was surprised to read your article “Health Care Town Hall Low Key, One Sided” (September 2, 2009), not because the town hall attendees were slanted toward government medical care, but because my elected representatives did not inform the general public about the event before it took place.
Your article indicates my representatives were there, but they did not invite me or others I talked to. It appears that this was another one of those closed circuit events that Democrat lawmakers are planning these days to avoid hearing conflicting viewpoints on healthcare.
Our elected officials (like my senator, Rodney Tom) should be informing their constituents about Town Hall meetings on important issues like this. If they don’t invite everyone, then the meeting is simply intended for partisan propaganda and not for an honest discussion about healthcare.
