Regarding Tom Twiggs’ July 29 letter about Link light rail, it is full of fear mongering, false statements and irrational fear of Link light rail.

He says that many will lose their homes along 112th Avenue. That’s not true; a few homes will be lost. Also, one condominium development, whose residents voted to sell, will be used for the right of way.

He decries that light rail will create visual blight and forever change the arrival to Bellevue. Has he noticed the visual blight that is being created along I-405 and SR-520 as these roadways are being widened? The alternative to light rail is ever more roadway widening.

He calls the trains ugly. I guess that is a matter of opinion as I find them attractive.

He says noise from the trains will render yards and patios useless. The trains are quieter than the noise from buses or trucks, and I dare say rather quieter than the noise generated by road traffic on a highway.

He claims to care about the impact on the Enatai neighborhood, but then supports the B7 alignment. That plan involved the taking of dozen homes in Enatai and construction of a new five-level parking garage west of Bellevue Way in the Enatai neighborhood.

I know that change is hard for some people to accept. But it really doesn’t advance the debate to publish irrational statements. Maybe it’s time to move on.
