I was heartened to hear Mayor Don Davidson honor Bellevue’s Lynn Johnson at Tuesday’s council meeting. Lynn died ahead of her time, and she used up every last ounce of enthusiasm in her body and soul during her last few health-stressed years to continue to volunteer her support of cultural arts in the community.
Lynn valued differences and the impact of the cultural sharing that manifest from seeing the world through art. She volunteered because of her passion, not because her employer expected it. Her cause was her “work.” And Lynn used public transportation to attend every meeting or event – and then advocated for its healthy convenience and necessity.
A mentor to us all who have causes to pursue, Lynn Johnson’s life was a model of diligence, intelligent discourse and advocacy. She leaves a void … we all should strive to fill.
