Millennial comment makes sense

Hooray for Celina Kareiva ("Lets give the millennials a little slack," Reporter's Notebook, May 24).

Hooray for Celina Kareiva (“Lets give the millennials a little slack,” Reporter’s Notebook, May 24).

I began reading it with a “who’s this young whippersnapper?” attitude. But as I read on, I changed to a “she’s got something to say” attitude.

Kareiva was responding to a Joel Stein cover story in a recent Time magazine that characterized her generation as very selfish, entitled and shallow.

She warned of overgeneralization and an “out generation is better than yours” mentality. And pointed out that millennials are going through the same maturing process as most young generations and are at the forefront of many worthwhile social causes.

Thank you, Celina Kareiva.
