Murder leaves other questions unanswered

With reference to your editorial of Dec 7, I agree that “justice must be served” regardless of who the person may be and hold everyone accountable for their actions and reactions.

I would like to address congressman Reichert’s questions, which bring about the necessity to improve our bureaucratic systems in the government and find out why the persons who are mentally unstable are released from prison and other institutions without proper care and support.

I hear that there has been a long history of Clemmons’ mental illness.

Who will respond to Reichert who stated in the Kent Reporter, “we must also ask the difficult but necessary questions:

How did this happen? Why was this person not in prison, and what can we do in the future to prevent this sort of heinous crime? We owe it to the brave officers who lost their lives, we owe it to their families and friends, and we owe it to all society to find the answers to these questions and address whatever lessons we learn from them.”
