5 private gardens in Bellevue and on Mercer Island to highlight tour

Five private gardens, three in Bellevue and two on Mercer Island, will be open to the public for on day on June 27 as part of the this year's Symphony of Gardens tour.

Five private gardens, three in Bellevue and two on Mercer Island, will be open to the public for on day on June 27 as part of the this year’s Symphony of Gardens tour.

The tour feature such treats as profusions of roses at one garden and a lawn that has been transformed by the owners into a beautiful garden at another. A third garden will feature the chance to see very rare perennials while a fourth features two acres of old growth trees, mature rhododendrons and many other plantings in a setting that overlooks Lake Washington. The fifth garden is described as a “gardener’s garden” that features major water features and a lawn for playing bocce ball.

Tickets for the tour are $25 per person with proceeds benefiting the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra.

An additional feature will include displays of classic cars at the homes.

The tour will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the cars on display until about 1:30 p.m.

The day includes live music, cookies and lemonade and docent tours at the Bellevue Botanical Garden from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
