Omega Photo is hosting an exhibit featuring the work of photographer Ron Brown. Brown, a Bellevue resident, began his working life in banking, but started his real career as a photographer when his wife challenged him to “find a passion, not just a hobby” when he retired.

Taking up photography changed his life because it changed his perspective.

“When you view the world through the lens you are constantly looking to figure out composition. The act of continually thinking about what you are seeing helps make seeing become automatic,” Brown said.

Brown’s one regret it is that he didn’t learn to look through the lens of a camera earlier in his life and see the beauty of the world around him.

Bankers, Brown notes, are black and white; they analyze, balance, and make projections.

“I was typical debit and credit guy so the difference now is that I slow down, look more, and listen better.”

He also says he has no problem getting up earlier for that perfect light and shot.

Brown’s exhibit runs through Aug. 31.

Omega Photo is located at 1100 Bellevue Way NE. The store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
