Author Jane Porter has always believed in happily ever after. Ever since the Bellevue-based book author was a little girl, she has felt a special connection with the world of story telling.
“I remember reading in my bedroom as a child and I knew even then that I wanted to be a writer,” Porter said. “I wrote for 15 years before my first book was published, but I never gave up. I was stubborn. I just couldn’t accept that this wasn’t what I was destined to do.”
Luckily for her fans, Porter stuck with it and is set to release her latest novel, Easy on the Eyes, on July 22. Her newest novel to hit bookshelves is a follow-up to her past titles, Odd Mom Out and Mrs. Perfect, a collection of modern-lit books that touch on the topics of marriage, relationships, divorce, motherhood, fame, and aging gracefully.
Easy on the Eyes is an entertaining tale of a modern day woman struggling to find happiness in her glamorous Hollywood Life.
With 30 books under her belt, Porter hit it big with fans with the release of her first 5 Spot novel, Flirting with Forty, which was turned into a Lifetime TV movie starring Heather Locklear earlier this year.
“Having one of my novels made into a movie was very exciting and a good learning experience,” Porter said, who revealed her true passion lies in her love of writing.
“I’ve been offered a couple of different times to do some screen writing but there’s something about the process of writing a book that keeps me hooked,” she said. “It’s always a challenge.”
Porter is enjoying her summer months in Hawaii with her family, including her two young sons, her fiance, and a new baby boy. Her fiance is a surf instructor who resides in Hawaii, a mirror image to the story line that developed in Flirting with Forty.
“I do draw on real life experiences, different areas I’ve lived, and the people in my life for inspiration,” she explained. “I want to touch on topics that are relevant to today’s woman. My goal is to write about what’s true and real to my peers and readers.”
